Isopropyl alcohol, also called isopropanol or dimethyl carbinol is a clear, colourless, flammable chemical compound with a strong odour. Isopropylalcohol (IPA) is the simplest example of a secondary alcohol. It is used as a solvent and cleaning fluid, particularly for dissolving oils. It is also being used as an intermediate.
